Telling the world more about you

When someone asks you the question “who are you…?’ What do you answer..?

Do you start with the fact that you have a degree at Stellenbosch University, or do you start by telling the person about your passions?
Why do we have to choose? Why only mention one or two aspects of our lives. Surely that does not portray who you are?
We have created a platform, where you can ‘tell the world more about you”, without having to limit yourself to one or two aspects.
Every individual has different “profiles”. From a professional profile, to a social, green, wellness and a talent profile. Think about it. You apply for a job. You post your CV. You wait. You never once mentioned the fact that you have completed the Comrades marathon, twice. Or that you are trying to contribute to the environment, by recycling your glass bottles. Or the fact that you have back packed through Europe, and that you see yourself as an adventurer. Maybe you have mastered the Violin. “What has any of this got to do with getting a job you might ask….?

” We believe, “Everything.”

Every Company has different “profiles.” From a professional profile to a social, green, wellness and talent profile. Think about it. They have a vacancy. They post a job add. And they wait. They never once mentioned the fact that their sales team jogs together every week. Or that they are trying to contribute to the environment, by going “paper-less”. Or the fact that they prefer camping to fancy hotels, when they planning a company conference. Or that they have their own company band, which plays when they want to celebrate a big achievement. What has this to do with recruiting a new employee you might ask….”

“We believe, Everything.”

When someone asks you the question “who are you…?’ What do you answer..?

  2. Not only does the company get employees that would better fit the company itself in many different aspects but also gives the person looking for the job a better view of what the company's vision is in terms of what they expect from their employees. Isn't it so Charl? Looking forward to your answer!

  3. It makes things much easier on the first day of work when employee and employer knows each other on a more personal level. This way the chances of major differences over the long term are limited, as both parties will know how to address situations in the right manner.

As a prospective employee, having the chance to know every aspect(profile) of the company you are thinking of working for, gives you a headstart, as you will know more or less what is expected of you. This can also go the other way around, because it is crucial for employers to realize that assigning a new employee means more than just signing a contract- it means having an effect on another persons life. When knowing every aspect of that other person's life/personality, the chances are that you would be able to have a positive effect on their lives.

  4. Your venture should bring hope for all parties involved in the process of employment.

If your site can bridge the gap between what employers think they require and advertise for and what job seekers think they can bring to that employer to satisfy his requirements, you have an all time winner here.

In my experience I found too many employers advertising for people they better not employ. See, they are always looking for eagles but has the vision and company culture that can only handle turkeys. The poor eagle joining these companies just ends up stripped from his sight and feathers that were supposed to take him soaring above those who became his boss.

By informing both parties about the "total package" on both sides each party will be able to make a much better informed desicion to benefit a long term relationship.

I am looking forward to the soaring success of this eagle like venture of yours.
